RVSM authorization for ferry flights: what it takes

You need RVSM authorization to operate between FL290 and FL410 in RVSM airspace. On a ferry flight the aircraft must be RVSM compliant and the operator must hold the relevant authorization, such as an FAA letter of authorization. Without it the aircraft can still be ferried, but it flies below or above RVSM levels, which changes fuel burn, range and the stop chain.
